What is the absolute best operating system and computer combo for everything Minecraft hands down?

February 3rd, 2012 2 comments

A frequently-asked query about best windows hosting:

Please don’t answer this question if you don’t have adequate knowledge about OS’s, RAM, HDD on computers and knowledge of playing Minecraft and hosting Minecraft servers on your own computer. This brings me to my question: What is the absolute best operating system and computer combo for everything Minecraft hands down? By "everything Minecraft" I mean, which operating system (given I get the maximum specifications for this operating system, money is not an object) will allow me to play Minecraft on all maximum video settings and still be able to play very smooth and completely lag free? AND "everything Minecraft" also includes which operating system will let me host the most amount of people on a server run by this individual computer? If you are confused, for example, say the iMac running Macintosh (with all maximum specifications) is the best operating system and computer combo for running "everything Minecraft" you would put it in that format, ["Computer Model" running "Operating System"] but don’t keep it as simple as Mac computers! Say it is an Alienware Area-51 ALX Desktop running Windows 7, then please, please, please, include all details such as those! If you still have any confusion, leave a comment in your answer on which part you don’t get and I will gladly post any clarification in the additional details. Thank you for any and all answers in advance!

What is the best operating systems?

February 2nd, 2012 9 comments

A frequently-asked query about best windows hosting:

There are so many operating systems available in the market that it’s difficult to decide which one is the best. Search the Internet for information on the following operating systems, and draw a table that compares them in terms of scalability, ease of use, reliability, and cost:

Windows 2000
Windows XP
Linux
In the table, rate each operating system on a scale of 1 to 3 (1 being the highest).

Based on the above analysis, which operating system will you recommend for the following requirements:

The finance department of XYZ Inc. has hired two trainees to work on a simple database application. Users are going to use the computer for the first time.

Smart Shoppers need to use an OS with easy to use interface and have also the capability to support dual processors.

A non-profit organization wants to host a Web site and needs a computer to host the Web site. They want a cost-effective solution for hosting the Web site.

A common query about best windows hosting:

Alright, so I want to host my own internet radio station but I don’t want to run the SHOUTcast server on my computer, so instead I’d like to use my free 3GB of bandwidth I get from Yahoo! Geocities and host it there. I’m running Windows Vista Home Basic and I have Winamp 5.551. Would I have to download the DNAS to the Geocities server and run the DSP for Winamp on my computer? Please leave detailed replies and 10 pts to best answer!

My Windows Movie Maker isn't working. Any similar programs for download?

January 29th, 2012 1 comment

A common question about best windows hosting:

I’m looking to make a video similar to those "Naruto: iKatsuki" videos on Youtube, and while I have all the images and music ready to go, my Windows Movie Maker doesn’t want to cooperate. I’d like to know about any programs similar to it that can host images, music, and create titles, credits, and frames to lie in between. Links to the programs would be much appreciated. All answers are Best Answers, to me, don’t worry–just don’t give me something that can’t do what I asked for the program to do, please. Or you could attempt to explain why my computer keeps saying "Windows Movie Maker has experienced a problem and has to close" every time I open it.

What is the best way to switch website and e-mail hosting?

January 26th, 2012 3 comments

A frequently-asked question about best windows hosting:

Hello, my father just acquired a company and has tasked me with all of the e-mail and website hosting duties. We want to switch for security reasons and I am not sure the best route to take. I would like to keep the same e-mail addresses (there are only two we need) and I would like to switch the website to a host that allows me to use my own merchant. I do have a server but we don’t not want to use it for website hosting we want to use an outside company, are there any that you would recommend over others? I have very rudimentary knowledge of internet programming. As for the e-mail, is there a way I could host that from my server and retain the original e-mail addresses? I am using windows server 2008. The current host is ix webhosting. I own all of the domain names so those are not an issues. Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated. Im like a fish out of water when it comes to this stuff.

Avoid These Common Mistakes When You Buy a Domain

Five Common Domain Registration Mistakes – Which One Do You Want to Avoid?

A domain name is the identity of your website and loosing the online identity can cause severe and costly damage.

However, do not make these mistakes when registering your domain name.

Click here to download the full report on how to avoid domain registration mistakes.

Mistake #1: Not Registering a Domain Yourself

You know how a business owner hires someone to create a website for their company and then after a few years, the person (or company) who created the website disappears for whatever reason? The person or company may have moved out of the area; the person might get another job; or they may be out of business.

Then unknowingly, the web domain registration expires and is automatically, electronically gobbled up by opportunistic domain squatters. These domain squatters then register the expired domain in hopes that the original owner will be highly motivated to purchase the domain name at a much higher asking price. Usually, squatters might ask for $200 to $2000. Sometimes, it could even be much more.

So what should you do instead if you have not registered the domain yet? Just go to one of the best domain registration services below and register the domain yourself.

  • Namecheap – one of the cheapest with free domain privacy for first year.
  • Godaddy – the most popular and trusted domain registrar.

Did someone else register your domain name for you? A webdesigner or web host perhaps has done it for you. That’s fine, but you’ll want to check a few things. Find out what you should do next.

Mistake #2: Forgot to Renew Domain Name on Time

You are working real hard to beat your online competitors, search the entire internet for your targeted audience, calling all your suppliers bargaining for the lowest cost price so that you can have a much competitive pricing, but be sure you have not missed your domain renewal notice, you should always renew your domain on time to avoid loosing your business.

There are various ways to keep your domain name safe.

Mistake #3: Paying Too Much for a Domain

You only should pay extra for a premium domain name, i.e the domain has been registered by somebody else so they can sell at higher price. A domain name is a domain name. You pay to reserve the name on yearly basis. By paying $35/year instead of $12/year does not give you:

  • a top placement in Google's search result. You still need to work on your Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • a website. You still need a website built!
  • a hosting space. A reliable hosting like Hostgator is recommended and should cost only around $10/month. The Hostgator coupon codes 2012 could save you more for your first invoice.
  • visitors to your website. You still need to do some marketing and promotion to get visitors.

Mistake #4: Not Aware of Registration Scams

Registering your domain name is usually safe, but as with anything, there are some folks who may try to scam you. Here are two things to watch out for:

  • You might receive offers (email or snail mail) from other registrars who may lead you to believe that you need to renew your domain name with them. While you can do that (you can transfer registrars at any time), these offers usually are at high prices. Don't fall for it. Know who your registar is. If the notice isn't from your registrar, pitch it in the trash.
  • "Lock" your domain name. Registrars offer a feature called "domain locking" at no extra cost. It prevents your domain name from being transferred to another registrar unless you authorize the transfer by first "unlocking" the domain. It's a good safeguard, and you can do it online in just a couple steps.

What else should you know about domain registration? There are tons of strategies about domain registration that we want to share, but we would not be able to fit them all here. Download the reports and guides; and to subscribe to the newsletter below.
